This week in Kindergarten we read all the Pigeon books by Mo Willems that we could find! We read, "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus", "The Pigeon Wants a Puppy", "The Pigeon Finds a Hot Dog", and "The Pigeon Needs a Bath". While we were studying the Pigeon; we also worked on making connections, studying our main character, looking at problem and solution, retelling our stories, and answering comprehension questions.
Our poem was "In The Ocean". We made movements to our poem, completed an silent E/ no silent E sort, and completed a sentence sort.
Our big book was "Pitter Patter".
For word work, we sorted OR and AR words.
For writing, we started a new writing unit! We are writing make-believe or fantasy stories! The students are having a blast creating their own stories and characters!
For math, we continued to work on number bonds and story problems. This week, we focused on solving for one part instead of the whole. (part-part whole)
We have been working very hard on our mother's day gifts as well! I hope you are all feeling very loved!
Our special person of the week was Micah! We enjoyed learning more about Micah this week and having his mom and triplets come read to us!
