Our poem this week was "Field Trip". The students made movements to the poem, sorted DR and TR words, sorted words in sentences, and found rhyming words.
Our big book was "Alligator Hide and Seek". We were surprised to learn that baby alligators hide in their mother's mouth!
Our read aloud was "How I Became a Pirate". The students made predictions, retold key parts, made connections, practiced making inferences, told their favorite part, and answered comprehension questions.
For word work, we sorted IR and OR words.
For writing, we are still working on make believe stories.
For math, we started a mini unit on time. We learned the days of the week, months of the year, on the hour times, and half hour times.
For science, we are still looking at our five senses.
We also have the manager from BMO Harris coming in every Tuesday and Thursday for Junior Achievement. The students are learning all about money and how to make smart choices.
