Our poem this week was "Out in the Garden". The students made movements to this poem, completed an ending sort, completed an E or A sort, found rhyming words, and found word wall words.
For reading, our read aloud was "Scaredy Squirrel". We talked about the characters and the setting, we compared and contrasted how scaredy squirrel changed from the beginning to the end, and we answered some comprehension questions.
Our big book for the week was "Miss Mary Mack". We talked about the story, learned the words, and made our own "Miss Mary Mack" story.
For word work, we looked at ED or ET words. We sorted the words, colored pictures by their spelling pattern, and colored words with our spelling pattern in it.
For handwriting, we worked on our letters V and W. We practiced these on our chalkboards and practiced them in our workbook.
We started a new unit for writing. We are working on pattern books.
For math, we finished unit 2. We did a measuring hunt where the students took math cubes and measured different things in our classroom. We also took our Unit 2 Assessment.
Our STEM activity was so much fun! The students had a blast with it!
We also did some guidance lessons this week. We looked at feelings and how to recognize them.
Margaret was our special person this week! We loved learning new things about Margaret and we enjoyed her Dad coming to read to us.
Micah was one of kindergarten's positive jaguar of the month! Way to go Micah!
We also had our Veteran's Day assembly. We learned what it means to be a Veteran and we honored some Veterans who came to help us celebrate.
Our police station is coming together! We are still looking for some items to bring it together.
