Our poem this week was "Five Fat Turkeys". We learned the words to our poem, made movements, looked for word wall words, did a short/long I sound sort, did a short/long A sound sort, and we talked about quotation marks.
Our big book this week was "Goldy". We learned the words in this book and read the book together! We also talked about the story and the characters.
Our read aloud this week was "Turkey Trouble". We worked on predicting, retelling important events, and answered some comprehension questions. We also took a closer look at Turkeys. We talked about what we already knew, what we wanted to know, and what we learned. We also talked about what turkey's have, are, and can do.
For word work, we focused on UN and UG words. We sorted these words, colored pictures, and colored words with UN and UG in them.
For handwriting, we focused on X and Y. We practiced these on our chalkboards and completed our handwriting page.
For math, we worked on our counting skills. We practiced pointing and counting, crossing off and counting, and using check marks to count. We also used our ten frames to help us count objects.
Sam was our special person of the week. We were excited when his Dad came in to read a book to the class that was about Sam and his sister!
We also had Officer Fitting come into our classroom. He talked about his job at Thorson and answered some of our questions! He was very happy to see our Police Station!
Book orders are due next week, November 20th.
