Our poem this week was, "Winters Here". We made movements to our poem, looked for word wall words, completed a SN/SK/ST/Sp sort, completed a season sort, learned about hibernation, and learned about vowels.
Our big book was, "CoCo Steps Out". We talked about the story and the characters. We made connections and learned about hibernation.
Our read aloud this week was "Bear Snores On". We practiced predicting, retelling important parts, and answering comprehension questions. We also learned a lot about bears and talked about what they have, what they are, and what they can do. We talked about what we already knew about bears and what new information we learned.
For word work, we focused on CH and SH. We sorted our words and pictures together and then individually, we colored words, and colored pictures.
For handwriting, we focused on letters C and O. We practiced these on our chalkboards.
For writing, we finished our pattern book unit. The students shared their favorite book with their partners.
We also wrote letters to my brother who is at Ranger School for the United States Army. We wanted to encourage him to keep up all his hard work and to keep protecting our country.
In math we practiced finding different ways to make 10. We also started started about part/part whole. They rolled dice and put that number of cubes on a paper and then found 2 ways to make that number.
Emilija was our special person of the week! We enjoyed learning more about Emilija and meeting her mom and sister.
