Our poem this week was "Loose Tooth". We made movements to our poem, sorted OT and AM words, sorted unhealthy vs. healthy foods for our teeth, and looked for word wall words.
Our big book was "Fly Away". We talked about all things that fly; living and non-living. We also completed a STEM activity where we made paper airplanes!
Our read aloud was "Just Going to the Dentist". We worked on predicting, retelling, making connections, inferring, and answering comprehension questions.
For word work, we looked at short/long I words where the "lazy E" at the end of a word was making our I say it's name. We sorted our words, made i_e words, colored the i_e pattern in words and practiced reading the words, and we colored pictures that were short/long I sounds.
Our new word wall words were "Your" and "If".
For handwriting, we are working on writing sentences, words, and vowels and writing them between, above, or below the line. Making our words neat!
For writing, we focused on what Writer's Workshop looks like and sounds like. We made a poster so that we could easily remember. We also started writing personal narratives. Next week, we will finish narrative writing and move into opinion writing.
For math, we worked on number bond addition/subtraction, solving story problems, and splitting numbers equally.
For science, we started talking about the four seasons.
For guidance, we talked about inviting other's to play.
Ellie was our special person this week! We were excited to learn more about Ellie and we were so happy to have Ellie's mom, aunt, and cousin (Walter) come read to us!
