2nd Grade Buddies

Today, we read outside with our second grade buddies!

May 28-31

Our poem this week was, "Summer Vacation". We made movements to our poem, completed and E/I sort, and completed a sentence sort. 

Our big book was, "Fuzzy and Buzzy". We enjoyed learning about different animals, learning some describing words, and practicing rhyming. 

For our read aloud we read, "Goldilocks and the Three Dinosaurs". We practiced making predictions, retelling the story, making connections, comparing and contrasting, telling our favorite part, and answering comprehension questions. 

For word work, we sorted long and short U and A words. 

This is our last week of make believe stories! I hope you will enjoy reading all of them when they bring them home. 

For math, we started a mini unit on money. We learned about the penny, nickle, dime, and quarter.

Bring a picnic lunch for you and your child (children) to enjoy on the Thorson grounds!

Sit with your family, your neighbors, your child's classmates... the more the merrier!

We will meet you on the north parking lot at 11:30

(same place as where we line up in the morning before school)

Field Day

Friday, May 31st

12:30-3:15

In the afternoon, we will have fun participating in our Field Day with our class! Don't forget gym shoes, a water bottle, and sunscreen!

Sunshine

It is FINALLY warm outside! The Kindergartners planted sunflower seeds in Thorson's front garden and then enjoyed some ice cream bars and sandwiches out in the grass! Thank you to Mrs. Charland for sending in the ice cream!
