Kinder Cardiology

Kinder Cardiology was such a fun day!

We jumped right into our centers. They were stitching matching color hearts and color words back together, putting bandages on broken hearts to make equations, using stethoscopes to help count syllables in words, and playing operation.

They all got their own Thorson Cardiology doctor badge and a surgeon cap to wear.

In the afternoon, we graphed candy hearts, played Valentine's Day bingo, and decorated cookies.

February 7-11

This week in Kindergarten!

Our poem this week was A Loose Tooth. We made movements to our poem, glued it into our poetry notebooks, completed a poetry page, and recorded it for seesaw.

Our read aloud was Just Going to the Dentist. We worked on visualizing, retelling, making connections, and answering comprehension questions.

In writing, we finished our All About Sharks book and started a new All About book. Soon they will take their homework nonfiction web and turn it into a book!

For math, we are in unit 5. In unit 5, your student will explore similarities and differences in 2D and 3D shapes, identify, describe, and sort 2D shapes, use simple shapes to make bigger shapes, and count and compare number of objects in different groups.

For guidance we talked about managing frustration. We learned that feelings varying in strength, feelings that are strong need to be managed, and saying "STOP" and naming your feelings are way to start to calm down.

101 Days of Fun

Today was 101 Day!

We had the best day dressing as Dalmatians, doing 101 activities, and watching 101 Dalmatians!

We started our day by making our 101 Days of Fun headbands. Then we did a movement to "Who Let the Dogs Out".

We played a making 10 memory game, drawing 101 dots on our dogs, made a 101 day project, played Top Dog (similar to the card game War), wrote what we would do if we had 101 Dalmatians, and wrote our numbers to 101!

January 31-February 4

This week in Kindergarten!

We started off the week learning all about Groundhogs Day. We watched a YouTube video that explained Groundhogs Day, we learned a little about groundhogs, we learned about the Milwaukee County groundhog, Gordy, and we watched Gordy on Groundhogs Day.

Our poem this week was Groundhogs Day. We made movements, glued it into our poetry notebook, completed a poetry page, and recorded it for seesaw.

Our read aloud this week was Groundhug Day. We practiced making predictions, retelling important parts, making inferences, and answer questions.

For writing, we completed our How To writing assessment. Then we started our non-fiction writing unit. We will write 2 non-fiction books together, then they will write a non-fiction book for homework, and then they will be able to look up any animal and write a non-fiction book about it.

For math, we are in unit 5. In unit 5, your student will explore similarities and differences in 2D and 3D shapes, identify, describe, and sort 2D shapes, use simple shapes to make bigger shapes, and count and compare number of objects in different groups.

For guidance, we learned about big or strong feelings and how to calm down.
